TaylorMade SIM Fairway Wood Review
This club comes with great features. The design is exquisite, the technology used is highly-recommendable, the look will surely fit your taste, the performance you’ll get will surpass your expectations, and so on. TaylorMade really put a lot into this club that deserved pro-golfer's praise. At this point, I will now break down the features into categories so that you can appreciate the club's special specs more.
Technology Used
Zatech Titanium with Twist Face
This clubface is constructed of ultra-strong titanium, allowing golf balls to move at incredible speeds and fulfilling golfers' dreams.
Thanks to the Zatech titanium face, which is a material development, TaylorMade engineers were able to break the speed limits of a titanium fairway wood. TaylorMade is the first company to employ this highly rare and durable material in a metal wood.
Zatech Ti is manufactured in small batches using a proprietary technology that allows engineers to preserve ductility while increasing face strength.
The SIM titanium fairway is designed for extreme distances with loft sleeve adjustability. At the same time, it has a twisted face that overcomes golfers' natural propensity to mishit in lieu of straighter shots, offering you optimum quality.
Thru-Slot Speed Pocket
The lower portion of the clubface can be completely separated from the wood's sole. Yes, you read that correctly. This is because it allows you to have a free-floating face, which provides exceptional performance.
At the same time, it will keep your ball speed and distance consistent, especially on low-face strikes, so you better not worry about a thing.
V Steel Sole
This one will take you by surprise. It has reappeared! The V Steel Sole has made a comeback!
The weight of the 80-gram V steel sole has been redistributed for enhanced forgiveness, turf contact, and adaptability.
In addition, the 180cc Tour-inspired clubhead maintains low CG attributes for exceptional distance, launch, and spin.
Design & Look
I tell you, when I find a club that is exquisite, I mean it! Among all of the fairway clubs that I’ve encountered, this is the one that blows my mind.
This TaylorMade SIM Titanium Fairway club has an ultralight carbon crown, a titanium body, and a steel-made sole plate that offers additional sturdiness.
It's not just that; there’s more! I am amazed by the efficient weight distribution and the multi-material construction they put on this club, specifically on the club’s sole, which makes this club offer a very low CG that can get an explosive distance while having a high ball flight.
TaylorMade really did put a lot of effort into this club alone. There is no doubt that this one will be on the charts!
The SIM fairway is the tightest and shallowest of the three 3-woods. With a 15-degree loft and a head volume of 180-cc, the wood is suitable for players who prefer a smaller clubhead.
This club is available in three color schemes: titanium, black, and blue. Aside from that, the titanium stripe that runs over the black crown area by which adds to the club's elegance.
While playing with it, you’ll get a smooth experience. In particular, striking from multiple spots across the surface will make it appear sturdy and strong.
Shaft and Hand-Orientation
Shafts for golf clubs are commonly made up of two materials. One is steel, while the other is graphite. However, this club does not stick with the majority. This club is equipped with a Mitsubishi’s Diamana. The Mitsubishi Diamana FW Limited 75 used in the SIM Fairway makes it exceptionally light.
The Diamana Limited Series compromises with a mid-launch and mid-spin shaft that has a stiff-tip form that is made from a combination of typical carbon and boron fibers. Slow swingers can take advantage of this to boost their scores.
This golf club is available for both left-hand and right-hand orientation. If you are a lefty person, consider yourself lucky. I recommend you should play it with your left hand. On the other hand, right-handed players can still use this club. It all just boils down to our own preferences.
Flex
Are you one of those people who has a low swing speed? Therefore, you should and must use a flexible shaft that flexes more.
Keep in mind that you can get an extra ‘kick’ when a shaft you use bends effortlessly, especially when it impacts. Not only that, but it also creates an addendum in the clubhead’s speed.
This club offers you three flexes, mainly regular, stiff, and X-stiff. Each flex is great, but please do choose the one that is suitable for you. Comfortability should be kept in mind when choosing the flex you want.
Loft & Lie
Golf club with a higher loft angle is said to be able to hit the ball higher into the air. Furthermore, if you have a high swing speed, you will need a lower loft angle. So, determine your perfect angle based on your swing speed.
This TaylorMade club is available in 15 and 19-degree lofts, by the way. Above all, you can change the loft angle of the club by 2 degrees, allowing you to customize the club to your chosen trajectory and face angle.
The lie angle of the 3-wood is 56.5° to 60.5°, whereas the lie angle of the 5-wood is 57° to 61°. These angles are perfect for golfers like you.
Performance
The ultra-strong but flexible Zatech titanium face adds more awesomeness to this club! Simply because the SIM Fairway Wood's built-in adjustable hosel offers excellent ball flight.
If you've tried all three SIM fairway woods, you'll notice that the SIM Titanium generates the most efficient and longest shots. What's more interesting is that this wood offers the distance accurately.
The distorted face curvature of the titanium face combined with the twisted face lets you obtain additional distance on the course even if you have missed hitting the clubface's center.
You will surely like the traditional V-style sole. The sole has a modified weight distribution that enables more forgiveness while maintaining optimal launch capabilities.
Have you ever dreamt of using a club that has more forgiveness? This sure will make that dream of yours come true.
Also, because the weight does not alter and remains true to its origin, the friction reduces the impact, resulting in improved turf contact and adaptability.

Final Thoughts about TaylorMade SIM Fairway Wood
TaylorMade has succeeded! The major goal of this SIM golf club is to create a low weight distribution in order to drive the ball higher, which TaylorMade has done really well.
It's great in practically every way, and I can't say enough positive things about it. To be honest, I was flabbergasted.
They've taken advantage of every aspect that makes the SIM Titanium fairway a fairway mileage ace. In addition, this wood offers a new level of forgivingness.
The greater weight distribution allows for a more precise CG projection, which improves rotational inertia and launch characteristics. Furthermore, a smaller head with a 180cc volume improves workability and delivers a tour-preferred look at address.
If you are a hard-hitter with a long swing, you should use a different golf fairway wood than this one. It was created with slow-swing golfers in mind. Last but not least, even if you miss the middle of the clubface while hitting a ball, you may expect straighter shots and higher distance and accuracy.
Honestly, if not for the price, this fairway should have already topped off the charts.
