Odyssey White Hot OG Putter Review
Design
The Odyssey first made the White Hot putter. And upon comparing the design to the White Hot OG, the latest one, of course, has a more premium and high-end look. But the classic head and shapes of the line are still in the picture.
The sole of the White Hot OG is one of its most highlighted parts. There are two visible gray metals and removable weights, alongside the White Hot branding that is embedded in the translucent and modern ‘OG’. Just the perfect design of the Odyssey’s authentic throwback look. The head cover is also remarkable. Because it still has that classic vibe without being too much.
And let’s not forget the Stroke Lab shaft. This White Hot OG version has a deep red color that is approximately six inches starting from the head until the back. Although some may find this a bit distracting, if you focus on the ball, it won’t really matter. After all, it looks really cool.
Moreover, the White Hot OG has a milled surface finish that is combined PVD finish with rich silver on the key surfaces of the fine milling. This design appeals beautifully to the golfers, allowing them to appreciate the look of the milled putter.
The heads also have modern components such as the slant neck on the #7 and the removable weights. These features are also equipped in the newly redesigned Rossie.
Performance
The Odyssey White Hot OG putter has an insert that is firm to touch but never fails to soften up the speed of the ball’s impact. And this combination is what hits the putting in its sweet spot with combined impact speed and balanced role on the greens.
Meaning to say, the ball will roll easily wherever you want it to go.
The insert that the White Hot OG putter has looks like a vintage polymer formula with a touch of modern manufacturing. And even though all the heads of the Odyssey line ups are initially cast, the head of the White Hot OG putter is slightly different. It has that surface milled to the final shapes. Odyssey also added distinct ridges and lines to the head of the club, which can be difficult to provide in a purely cast head. If you observe closely on its head, you can easily spot the difference between a precisely milled texture from roughcast.
The Strokelab shaft that the White Hot OG has is made from multi-material of high quality for better performance. The steel section was shortened and reduced by seven grams. It is also more stable and stiffer to provide more consistency for every stroke you make.
Sound & Feel
The two-part urethane insert will help give the ball a soft and solid feel upon impact. The sound this putter produces is more of a ‘tock’ than a thud. And this minimizes the feel difference for every golf ball.
Honestly, if you use a golf ball that has very low compression, the White Hot OG produces a more dull sound and feel, compared to high compression balls.
Price Point
The price of Odyssey White Hot OG Putter is very good for a putter that comes in different variations for you to choose from, with outstanding design, feel, and performance.
