When the Kirkland Signature 4-piece golf balls were first introduced to the golfing world, Costco was in the line of the internet and market hype. The low price, yet premium quality left consumers abuzz, making it a massive demand.

The secondary market, on the other hand, has resale the prices for those golf balls. Then, after a few years, Costco reawakened that hype with the Kirkland’s Signature KS1 putter.

The first time golfers saw a hint of this putter was back during 2019 of fall. It was mostly just an ad for the Costco golf ball, but there’s a tease of the putter’s sole, only a third showing, lying behind the ball, with a noticeable Kirkland brand on it.

Then fast forward after a month of investigation and speculation from avid golf players, the KS1 has finally been released for purchase. And even though the putters did not quickly empty the shelves of the stores they were being placed in, they were surprisingly sold out very fast on various online platforms such as eBay, Amazon, and more. That being said, the Kirkland’s Signature KS1 putter. Has been one of the hottest and most in-demand putters in golf history.

This putter provides a good feel, premium components, and stellar value. Find more about its technology, performance, and features as you read further.

Kirkland Signature KS1 Putter Review

Technology Used

  • CounterCore Grip SuperStroke Mid Slim 2.0
  • CNC Milled Stainless Steel feature
  • 100% forged
  • Truline Technology

Generally, it may be difficult to spot the dissimilarities between the Kirkland’s Signature KS1 Putter from expensive brands like Mizuno, Odyssey, and Ping. And it’s got that Newsport or Anser-style blade, that is silver in color and with a plumber’s neck.

This putter also features a boxy blade head, alongside two ten-gram weights at the club’s bottom and is shaped circular. That being said, an adjustable technology featured.

The colors that are shown in Kirkland’s signature logos are red and black. And they are seen in the putter’s underside and backside. While the SuperStroke grip remains large and of the same color, which is white. This putter’s face looks visually pleasing because of the “KS1” logo and milled variable bumps, giving more highlights to the brand.

At the bottom of the club, the Kikrland signature logo looks very handsome. However, even though the club’s bottom looked great, the back logo looked quite smooshed. That’s why some golfers hoped that someday, they could make their unique logo appear more premium. But the good thing is, upon the address, you won’t really notice this that much.

Even though this putter has a CNC Milled Stainless Steel feature and is 100% forged, the company is still on the route of utilising milled stainless steel.

As you purchase the Kirkland Signature KS1 Putter, it comes with a serviceable headcover. The stitching looks durable and nice, but sole players said that the materials look quite cheap. Yet, don’t worry because velcro magnets are used, and the materials are sturdy & lightweight.

Generally speaking, if a putter can’t be able to sink putts, then it only means that it’s a ‘no-good’ putter. And you can experience this on many putters out there.

But with the KS1, you don’t have to worry about this part, for it performs well because it can generate plenty of putts. Although it ‘may’ feel quite thinner than your current gamers, it can still impressively sink some putts.

The speed control of this putter can sometimes be an issue, as for some golfers. Some stated that they often hit it longer than anticipated, and left putts short. Yet, this is just a minor drawback because of the club’s light weighting. And this can be solved by more practice to get more comfortable with the putter.

The alignment of the KS1 is very simple, just like the rest of the purter. The technology ‘Truline’ is featured through a black line at the hosel’s back. And is only evident if you haven’t aligned your eyes proportionally to the club’s head. While the other alignment aid looks like a thin line on the flange that is color black. These features help the putter get the job done, while reminiscing other dozens of putters that almost did the same thing.

The experience you can get in the Kirkland’s Signature KS1 Putter is decent. However, a club’s performance is often determined by how well the fit of the club is to the putter. The KS1 only has limited fitting capabilities. Although a left-handed version is available, the club is ordinary. It is only available in 3 degrees loft, with 34.5 inches measurement. Therefore, since this is the only length on sale, it cannot fit every player. At the same time, lofts cannot be changed.

The feel also plays a very important role in the performance (this will be discussed later on). And since the feel is not standard, you can buy a separate weight kit from the putter. The kit includes two 15g and 20g weights that you can use for the putter itself. Additionally, a 50g CounterCore Grip Weight is also included for more customization options aside from the Kirkland Signature wedges itself. Other golfers prefer adding additional weight to the putter’s head.

Sound & Feel

The Kirkland’s Signature KS1 Putter features a CounterCore grip of SuperStroke Mid Slim 2.0. This technology provides security, comfort, and tremendous value for the club. It is quite thick, which brings the wrist action away from the equation.

This putter feels less firm upon each impact. For example, if you ever hit a ProV1 golf ball, the sound it will produce will first start at a higher pitch, then will gradually trail off to a dollar volume. That means, the sound is not like the usual ‘click’ nor a ‘thud’ alone, but rather a combination of the two — a ‘clud’.

One drawback to this putter, as per what other golfers experience, is that you can only try it once you buy it. Not like the others. But since I mentioned that this is only a minor drawback, Costco is pretty reasonable and generous when it comes to their return policy. If you already bought the KS1 putter, and you’re not satisfied after a round or two, you can ask them for a refund. Although the return period may take long, at least you have something to look forward to. Our best advice is to give yourself more time to get used to the putter’s feel and performance.

As previously mentioned, since the KS1 is only available in 3 degrees loft, with 34.5 inches measurement, alongside the SuperStroke Counter Core Mid Slim 2.0 grip, we feel that this is just an effort to assist the putter provide a wide selection of golfers’ skills. Although these choices are interesting and helpful, it sometimes gives a weird or awkward feeling.

The lightweight feel of the head and the SuperStroke grip often make the putter feel soulless and sound dull during impact.

But despite all of these, the ‘actual’ feel once the ball is being impacted, is not really terrible. The feedback is really good, and there’s a noticeable sweet spot. Locating the sweet spot sometimes feels thin with a slight touch of clickiness, but not bad. There are actually worse putters out there at an expensive price with a bad feel.

Price Point

The Kirkland’s Signature KS1 Putter is reasonably priced.
